Linda Bussey
LInda Bussey

Linda Bussey

Linda was born in Northern Québec but moved to Montréal at a young age. Linda attended the University of Montréal and completed an addictions program with a focus on prevention. In 1992, Linda moved to Iqaluit with her young family and spent four years working as the GNWT Regional Training Coordinator and Executive Director of the Baffin Treatment Centre. Since moving to Yellowknife in 1996, Linda has worked for various GNWT departments, but focused mostly on Health and Social Services and Human Resource Management. In 2002, Linda left the GNWT to assume the position of Executive Director for the Stanton Foundation. After 9 years with the Foundation, Linda returned to the GNWT as the Manager of the Recruitment Support Unit with the Department of Human Resources. Linda believes in continued education and is presently enrolled in the Graduate Certificate Program in Management and Leadership at Royal Roads University.

After falling in love with the city and all its unique charms Linda decided to make Yellowknife home. Since her arrival in 1996 Linda has been very involved in her community. She served as a trustee on two of Yellowknife’s three school boards, and is presently a member of both the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of Avens. Linda has volunteered with many different cultural and arts events in the community over the years, and, inspired by her daughter’s interest in the sport, has served as President of the Yellowknife Speed Skating Association. In order to help when she can Linda continues to maintain her race official certification. Linda is married to Eric and is the mother of 3 youthful adults.

Merci, au plaisir de vous rencontrer – s'il vous plaît, n'hésitez pas à me contacter pour discuter des questions ou de vos préoccupations.

Niels Konge
Niels Konge

Niels Konge

Niels was born in Salmon Arm, BC and grew up on a dairy farm in Mara, BC.  There was always a lot of work to be done on a family farm and life was busy with school, work and play.  The most interesting work on the farm for him was always building or fixing new barns, sheds, fences and always trying to damn up the creeks.  After graduation Niels hung around the Okanagan working construction during the summer and coaching downhill skiing in the winter. In 1993 Niels ventured to Denmark and was promptly offered an apprenticeship in carpentry.  Living in Europe sure opened his eyes to a different way of living compared to the farm.

In 2001 Niels returned to Canada and an adventure brought him to Yellowknife.  Niels met Renee 3 weeks after his arrival and decided that he should stick around Yellowknife for longer than originally anticipated.  They started Konge Construction on January 1, 2003 and got married January 3, 2003.

Almost 12 years later they still chose to call Yellowknife their home, and try and make it the best place to live for themselves, their neighbors and their community.  Niels look forward to the challenges that being a councillor will bring and hopefully the ideas and values that he bring to the table will continue to make Yellowknife a great place to choose to live, play and work.

Phil Moon Son

Phil Moon Son

Phil was born in London Ontario, and lived in several southern Ontario communities, before moving to Sachs Harbour in 2000. Phil is a University graduate and has completed numerous university courses and programs while in the north and served with the Canadian Armed Forces. Phil’s parents moved in Canada in the mid 60’s and have worked hard and opened a small business in the mid 80’s, often struggling during very difficult economic conditions. Phil has learned a great deal from the hardship his parents experienced while operating a small business.

In 2004 Phil was the first president of the Society of the St Vincent De Paul, Yellowknife Conference, a lay Catholic organization providing for the less fortunate in the community, he also plays as a guitarist with the St. Patrick’s Church since his arrival to Yellowknife.
