Fieldhouse Development Committee
Fieldhouse Development Committee
The Fieldhouse Development Committee was established by City Council on February 11, 2008 to assist in the establishment of a facility that includes 2 indoor soccer pitches and an unobstructed indoor running/walking track. The purpose of the Fieldhouse Development Committee is to assist the City of Yellowknife in an advisory capacity by considering and making recommendations to Council through the appropriate standing committee on issues related to the development of a Fieldhouse to achieve a facility that meets the needs of the community and is within the financial capability of the City. In meeting its purpose, the Committee shall examine, but is not limited to, the following issues:

Review the Fieldhouse Consultation and Pre-design Report as prepared by Dillon Consulting Ltd. for Facilities for Kids and adopted by Council;

Review existing Fieldhouse Plans as prepared by PSAV Architects Ltd and determine options for modification of the Plans to achieve the financial goals of the City of Yellowknife including phasing the development, timing of development, altering the design and/or limiting and prioritizing components, the feasibility of the City partnering on the development of the facility or seeking sponsorship to achieve its goals;

Review the Expressions of Interests for the development of a Fieldhouse facility that were received by the City as well as reviewing comments regarding the existing plans;

Provide advice to City Council as required during the construction phase of the project;

The Fieldhouse Development Committee shall have no authority to expend or commit financial resources of the City of Yellowknife.
The Fieldhouse Development Committee consists of the following members:
One (1) Member of City Council plus alternate;
Five (5) Members of the community with the following representation:

One (1) representative recommended by Facilities for Kids,
-
Four (4) representatives of the City at large;
-
One (1) representative recommended by the Friends of the Yellowknife Public Library that will be a non-voting member observing the process in a mentoring role;
The Mayor shall sit as an ex-officio voting member of the Committee.
