Heritage Committee
The Yellowknife Heritage Committee was established by City Council in February 1985 by Heritage Committee By-law No. 2955. The Committee consists of eleven members representing the community: two City Councillors and nine members of the community who are appointed by Council.Thank you to all involved in Heritage Week
The City of Yellowknife Heritage Committee would like to thank all those who helped make Heritage Week a great success. The theme for Heritage Week 2013 was “Immigration.” The Heritage Committee congratulates Ms. Fran Hurcomb, winner of the 2012 Heritage Award and would like to thank all of the artists who participated in bringing the City’s history to life through their submissions to the Heritage Week Art Show. The generous donation of staff time and event space by the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre and Javaroma was crucial to putting on Heritage Week and is greatly appreciated. Thank you to all of the members of the public who came out to these events and showed support and interest in the heritage of Yellowknife.
