Zoning By-law Review Committee
The Zoning By-law Review Committee
was established by City Council on September 13, 2004. The Committee consists of seven members representing the community. Of the seven members, two are members of City Council, two are representatives from the property management and/or development industry, one is a representative from an environmental organization, and two are representatives from the general public. The Mayor also sits as an ex-officio voting member of the Committee.
The purpose of the Zoning By-law Review Committee is to act in an advisory capacity via the Municipal Services Committee to City Council. The Zoning By-law Review Committee is responsible for providing input and advice on the fundamental review of Zoning By-law No. 4024 that has been initiated by Council. The Zoning By-law Review Committee will consider technical zoning reports and analysis brought forward by a technical zoning review team consisting of planners, development officers, landscaping architects and legal advisors.
The scope of the Zoning By-law Review Committee will be to review the following elements of the Zoning By-law:
-
the purpose;
-
the definitions;
-
the development permit approval process, including methods for addressing public concerns in the approval process;
-
the landscaping requirements in order to provide effective measures that will enhance the aesthetics of a site and the city at large;
-
the enforcement provisions; and
-
conformity with the proposed General Plan 2004.
Meetings of the Zoning By-law Review Committee are on the first and third Thursdays of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the downstairs boardroom at City Hall. Beginning December 2004, it is anticipated that meetings will revert to Monday evenings. The public is welcome to meetings of the Zoning By-law Review Committee.
