Community Services

The Community Services Department encapsulates everything from Recreation Programs to the running of various City Facilities to Outdoor Trail & Park maintenance.

We are the Ruth Inch Memorial Pool, the Yellowknife Fieldhouse, the Yellowknife Public Library, the Multiplex, and the Yellowknife Community Arena.

Our staff will register you into a recreation program, sell you your Flexi pass so you may meet your recreational and fitness goals. We run drop-in programs at the Fieldhouse, host special events and create the Recreation Guide which is published three times a year (spring/summer, fall and winter). We help you to Adopt-a-Street, be a part of Spring Clean Up program, and offer special grants and core funding. Our staff maintain the Lakeview Cemetery, city trails, parks, and playgrounds. We create winter outdoor ice rinks and are a part of the Wildcat Advisory Committee and Yellowknife Combative Commission.

The Community Services Department would like to advise residents that all ice surfaces are closed for the season.  Ice rentals are no longer available. 

Please be advised that the interior of the Multiplex is being painted in June.  This will effect the accessibility to the public as follows:
June 3 - 7:   the Multiplex will be closed entirely.
June 3 - 14: the PSAV Meeting Room will be unavailable.
June 10 - 14: the gymnasium will be closed to the public. 
All other areas of the Multiplex are available for use as usual.  The City thanks you for your patience and understanding during this time.
