SPONSOR A SWIM

The Sponsor A Swim Program was created to encourage participation in aquatic activities and special events. Sponsors fund a swim at a cost of $320.00 + GST and it is offered to the general public free of charge. The Sponsor A Swim program provided over 90 hours of free swimming to members of our community last season. The program has been a great success with users and sponsors alike!

The Ruth Inch Memorial Pool is always looking for individuals, groups or businesses who are interested in sponsoring a swim or special event so that community members can enjoy free access to the facility. Sponsors receive mention on some of the following:  Multiplex and Franklin Ave Electronic Boards, Banner at the Pool, City Flyer, Posters, City Recreation Guide and Radio Spots. Sponsors may also provide a banner/sign to be hung during the event. For more details about this exciting program, please contact Johanna at 920-5680 or Renee at 920-5607. 

RIMP WALL ADVERTISING

The Ruth Inch Memorial Pool currently has  4' x 8' spaces available on the walls surrounding the pool for advertising. The signs are made of coroplast and the creation and design fees are the responsibility of the advertiser. Spots are $600 per year and can be purchased by contacting Brian at 920-5647. To look at spots or make arrangements to have your advertising placed on the wall contact Johanna at 920-5680.

SAFETY EVENTS

The Ruth Inch Pool has been the home base for a couple very exciting Water Safety Events this summer. The staff had a great time and would like to thank the participants and sponsors who made it all possible. 

Water Safety Week 2011 saw 1061 people swim for free and participate in events designed to educate the public about the dangers of water and best practices for families in and around the water thanks to Tim Hortons. Diavik Diamond Mines assisted us by sponsoring in school presentations for over 600 children that focussed on lifejacket use and supervision of children around the water. We would like to thank Tim Hortons and Diavik Diamond Mines Inc. for their continued commitment to Water Safety as both groups have agreed to sponsor the 2012 event as well!
 
Drowning Prevention Week 2011 ended with a total of 1262 people taking part in the week-long festivities that focussed on skills and knowledge that hopefully will reduce the number of drownings and near misses in the NWT. A great big thank you to the swim sponsors who made Drowning Prevention Week such a success Adam Dental Clinic, Frame Lake Dental Clinic, Pack Rat Mini Storage Ltd, JSL Mechanical Installations Ltd, Legge Carpentry Ltd., Union of Northern Workers, Paddlers for Parts, Northland Utilities and the City of Yellowknife. Thanks also to Pioneer Supply House and Force One for the donations of prizes for our draws. Thanks to everyone for participating and see you next year!
