User Pay Waste Collection System

The City of Yellowknife wishes to advise the public that the new user pay waste collection system has been implemented as of January 1, 2006. Residential waste collection will continue to be provided, but commercial and multi-family units will be responsible for arranging their own collection and disposal methods. There will be a three bag limit, with each additional bag requiring a $1 tag. Tags will be available at City Hall and local vendors. In addition, all vehicles that use the Solid Waste Facility will be required to pay a $5 per vehicle minimum fee per drop off, except for residents that are solely scavenging or those bringing in tagged residential waste.
