The City of Yellowknife (the City) would like to update residents about the current labour negotiations happening with PSAC Local X0345, represented by the Union of Northern Workers (the Union).

The City of Yellowknife is reminding residents to use water regularly to help prevent residential sewer service lines from freezing this winter. Frost levels have been observed as deep as 10 feet, which is significantly deeper than in a typical winter. This places some residential sewer service lines closer to the frost layer, increasing the risk of freeze-ups. Tourist Accommodation Tax Comes Into Effect On April 1st, 2025

The Tourist Accommodation Tax By-Law No. 5099, passed by the Yellowknife City Council in 2024, comes into effect on April 1st, 2025.  This By-Law requires that a 4% tax be applied to the purchase price of tourist accommodation in the City. The funds collected will be used to enhance and grow the tourism sector in Yellowknife.
