The City of Yellowknife in partnership with the Yellowknife Chamber of Commerce have successfully completed the fifth annual #ShopYK Passport Program, and randomly drawn a winner of a $3000 shopping spree.
51 businesses participated in this year’s #ShopYK Passport Program. For every $20 spent on a product, shoppers received a stamp in their passport. For every thirty stamps collected participants were entered into a draw for a chance to win the $3000 shopping spree at any of the participating businesses.
Rebecca Mahler’s name was drawn from among 1,360 completed passports by Yellowknife Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Deneen Everett.
“Counting only the completed passports, the total value of dollars spent at Yellowknife businesses was $816,000. We are very encouraged to see that Yellowknifers are supporting local merchants,” said Ms. Everett.
“The City of Yellowknife and the Yellowknife Chamber of Commerce recognize the importance and value that local spending provides to our economy. We will continue to collaborate to support our business community through #ShopYk, local procurement and other initiatives” said Mayor Alty.
