Name the Muskox

Posted on Wednesday December 05, 2018

A mosaïcultures muskox has recently moved to Somba K’e Civic Plaza, and residents are invited to help find him or her a name, for a chance to win a City of Yellowknife Family FlexiPass for one month.

From now until midnight on Tuesday, December 11th,2018, names for the muskox can be submitted by commenting on the photo of Mayor Alty and the muskox on the City’s Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter posts, or by emailing submissions to communications@yellowknife.ca.

During the week of December 17, all submitted names will be posted to the City’s social media channels and residents can vote for their favorite entry. Voting closes on December 20 and on December 21, the person who submitted the most popular name will be awarded the City of Yellowknife Family FlexiPass.

We welcome humorous, original or serious content, but note that all submissions must be in accordance with the City’s social media terms of engagement in order to qualify for the contest.

The muskox was donated to the City after representing the Northwest Territories as part of an exhibition of mosaïcultures artworks, displayed in Gatineau in 2017 and 2018 as a legacy of Canada 150. Mosaïculture technique combines sculpture for the structure, paint for the palette of colours and horticulture as the means of creating living and changing artworks with plants.

The muskox can be seen on Somba K’e Civic Plaza in front of the City Hall steps, until a permanent location is identified.
