An Originating Notice was filed with the Supreme Court of the Northwest Territories by Lidstone and Company, on behalf of the City of Yellowknife and named individuals, citing the position that the current Electoral Districts set out in the Northwest Territories do not provide for equal and effective representation for all citizens, and as such violate the rights of residents of Yellowknife.

The matter was heard in Chambers on August 12, 2015 by the Honourable Justice L. A. Charbonneau who reserved judgment at that time.

The Reasons for Judgment were subsequently filed with the Supreme Court of the Northwest Territories on October 20, 2015.  It was the decision of the Court to dismiss the Application.
