Pursuant to Cities, Towns and Villages Act  when public notice is required the notice must be given to the general public in one or more of the following ways:

  • by inserting the notice at least once in a newspaper circulating in the municipality;
  • by mailing or delivering a copy of the notice to the household of each adult resident in the municipality;
  • by causing announcements to be made on a radio or television station received in the municipality on at least three separate days;
  • by posting a notice in at least five widely separated and conspicuous places in the municipality.

NOTICE OF DEVELOPMENT APPEAL BOARD HEARING

 

The public is hereby advised that a hearing of the Development Appeal Board of the City of Yellowknife has been scheduled on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in the Shorty Brown Arena at the Multiplex.

The purpose of this hearing is to consider an Appeal of the decision of the City Development Officer to issue a Development Permit #PL-2020-0335 for a Special Care Facility at Lots 43 and 44, Block 62, Plan 4252 (5710 – 50 Avenue / Avens Pavilion).

 The Development Appeal Board will hear from those persons identified in accordance with s.66(2) and 68(1) of the Community Planning and Development Act, and may hear from any other persons that it considers necessary. To request to speak please contact the Secretary to the Board at 920-5646.

 On the advice of the Chief Public Health Officer concerning gatherings, this meeting will also be broadcasting live via webcast.

 NOTICE OF GEOTECHNICAL INVESTIGATION - MCDONALD DRIVE
 

The City of Yellowknife has retained Stantec Architecture Ltd. to conduct a geotechnical investigation on McDonald Drive in support of the City’s 2022 Paving Program.

The investigation, which is expected to begin in July 2021, involves drilling ten boreholes on McDonald Drive over two days. Prior to the investigation, a Land Use Permit will be obtained from the Mackenzie Valley Land and Water Board. The proposed borehole locations are highlighted on the map below.

Noise may occur between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. during the investigation. The roadway will remain open for the majority of the project, with traffic control and lane width restrictions in place. However, during portions of the work, the road will be temporarily closed with local access only. Property owners are asked to avoid parking on the roadway during the investigation, if possible.
