Pursuant to Cities, Towns and Villages Act  when public notice is required the notice must be given to the general public in one or more of the following ways:

  • by inserting the notice at least once in a newspaper circulating in the municipality;
  • by mailing or delivering a copy of the notice to the household of each adult resident in the municipality;
  • by causing announcements to be made on a radio or television station received in the municipality on at least three separate days;
  • by posting a notice in at least five widely separated and conspicuous places in the municipality.
Notice of Intention to Open Road

Pursuant to Section 88 of the Cities, Towns and Villages Act, S.N.W.T. 2003, c.22, notice is hereby given of the intention of the City of Yellowknife to pass a by-law to open and name roads within the Niven Lake Subdivision as Hagel Drive and LeMouel Terrace.

The Council of the City of Yellowknife will hear any person claiming to be affected by the by-law who wishes to be heard at seven o’clock in the evening (7:00 P.M.) on Monday, February 11, 2019 in the City Hall Council Chamber.

 Any person wishing to make a verbal submission at the meeting is asked to contact the Office of the City Clerk at 920-5602 before 12:00 noon on Monday, February 11, 2019.

 By-law No. 4984

The City of Yellowknife has given First and Second Reading to By-law No. 4984, a by-law to bring forward changes to the City of Yellowknife land sales program. Pursuant to Section 55(2) of Cities, Towns, and Villages Act, the City of Yellowknife is required to give public notice of this amendment.

The Council of the City of Yellowknife will hold a PUBLIC HEARING at seven o’clock in the evening (7:00 P.M.) on Monday, February 11, 2019 in the City Hall Council Chamber to hear any submissions to By-law No. 4984.

Additional information and copies of By-law No. 4984 may be obtained from the Planning and Lands Division at City Hall or by phoning 867-920-5674.

Written submissions should be forwarded not later than 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 to the City Clerk, Yellowknife City Hall, P.O. Box 580, Yellowknife, NT, X1A 2N4; e-mailed to cityclerk@yellowknife.ca; or faxed to (867) 920-5649.

Any person wishing to make a verbal submission at the Public Hearing is asked to contact the Office of the City Clerk at 920-5602 before 12:00 noon on February 11, 2019 and provide their name and whether they will be speaking in favour or against the proposed by-law.

ATTENTION:

Residents are advised that Council cannot consider oral or written submissions received after the Public Hearing on Monday, February 11, 2019 is declared closed
