Community Advisory Board logo

The Yellowknife Community Advisory Board (CAB) on Homelessness was formed to address issues of homelessness in Yellowknife, through the Government of Canada's Homelessness Partnering Strategy (HPS). The CAB membership includes partners from the Federal, Territorial, Municipal and Aboriginal governments, as well as many homeless serving 'sectors' such as Youth, Persons with Disabilities, Seniors,  and Yellowknife Business.

The City of Yellowknife, by agreement with the Government of Canada, is the Community Entity (CE) that receives funding from the Government of Canada HPS, and acts on behalf of the CAB, as CAB members work toward realizing its Community Plan on Homelessness.

The current Community Plan for Yellowknife identifies three priorities:

  1.  Housing First Readiness & Implementation
  2.  Increase Housing Options for Youth
  3.  Integrated Service Supports

The current HPS Contribution Agreement with the City of Yellowknife exists for the years 2014 - 2019. The CAB continues to work diligently on filling the above priorities.

Council established the Yellowknife Community Advisory Board (CAB) on Homelessness and adopted the Terms of Reference on April 28, 2014.  Please view our Community Advisory Board on Homelessness page for further information.
