The YPL Summer Reading Club is FREE and loads of FUN.

It is open to children ages 3 to 12 years old.


Starting in July, register for YPL's summer reading program by calling  or emailing to schedule an appointment  to receive your club package full of goodies and a reading record. Then, read books, magazines, newspapers, comics, and even websites all summer long. It all counts toward filling out your summer reading log.

How the reading log works: 

  • Read for at least 49 days 
  • Read anywhere: at home, at the park, on vacation!
  • Read together!
  • Write the titles or chapters  of what you read in your reading log each week
  • Bring your reading log to the library (call ahead to schedule an appointment) before mid September to enter the draw for the grand prize and receive a completion prize!

 *** We are participating in the BC Summer Reading Club -your child(ren) have access to registering for additional content via  Please note that when registering to choose Yellowknife Public Library as the Library under BC Library system and as the branch library. When asked for the child(ren)'s school, please use the option of entering other. ***

This year, we will be posting storytimes, craft  ideas, and more to this  page of our website starting the first week of July. Join us each week for all the fun!

Summer Reading Club 2020 (elementary school): Transportation and Technology

Join us to explore basic technologies in the form of simple machines.

Learn how they can be used through stories, inventions, and activity ideas with a focus on the importance of creativity and perseverance through the construction of a Rube Goldberg machine.
