Notice is hereby given to the voters of Yellowknife that:

Rebecca Alty has been duly acclaimed to the office of Mayor for the City of Yellowknife on September 22, 2022.
The following persons have been nominated to stand as candidates in the 2022 Municipal General Election:

The Municipal Election will be conducted via Vote by Mail and two Voter Assistance Locations on October 17, 2022.
VOTE BY MAIL
Ballot kits will be mailed to all eligible voters on the Voters List as of September 22, 2022, and residents should expect to receive it in the mail by the beginning of October. The ballot kit will include instructions on how to complete the ballot, declaration form, secrecy envelope and a postage-paid envelope. Voters may return their ballot kit by return mail, Drop Box at Yellowknife City Hall, or by bringing it to a Voter Assistance location on October 17, 2022. All ballots must be received by 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 17, 2022. Ballots received after that time will not be counted.
Voters who do not receive a ballot kit (in the mail).
Those who have not enumerated by September 22, 2022 will not receive a ballot in the mail and must attend a Voter Assistance Location on October 17. Eligible voters who do not receive a mail in ballot kit or require voting assistance, may attend a Voter Assistance Location. Residents can check if they are enumerated to vote on the City’s website www.yellowknife.ca/elections or by checking the Voters List posted at the following locations:
- City Hall;
- Yellowknife Public Library;
- Ruth Inch Memorial Pool;
- Weaver and Devore;
- Yellowknife Co-op;
- Fieldhouse; and
- Multiplex.
Ensure the accuracy of name and school declaration. Information posted for public viewing will include the voter’s name and school support. Residents are asked to take a moment to review the list and ensure that their information is correct. If residents see they are not on the Voters List, they may register to vote or update their information at the City’s website at www.yellowknife.ca/elections. The deadline to do so is Friday, October 7, 2022. If residents do not update by this deadline, they may still vote in person on voting day by being sworn in to vote.
Voter Assistance Locations will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on October 17, 2022, as follows:
- Tree of Peace Friendship Centre
- Multiplex Gym
If residents know that they will be unable to vote by mail-in-ballot or in person on Election Day (October 17, 2022) they may obtain an application authorizing another voter to vote on their behalf as a proxy voter. The proxy voter must meet all voter requirements. Residents must apply to the Returning Officer for a proxy form cityclerk@yellowknife.ca. Residents will be required to show the Returning Officer their photo identification, such as a Drivers Licence. Questions regarding proxy voting can be directed to cityclerk@yellowknife.ca.
The deadline to apply for a proxy form is 3:00 p.m. on October 12, 2022.
