“Winter Lights Across Canada” is an annual initiative lead by Government of Canada, where monuments and important sites across the country are illuminated in a display of holiday lights on the same night. This event brings people together, allowing Canadians to participate and join in the spirit of the season. The City of Yellowknife (the City) and Northland Utilities Yellowknife (NUY) are pleased to announce this season’s Annual Holiday Lights Competition. Residents are invited to brighten up our community during this dark time of year by decorating their homes with festive lights.

New Flooring at the Fieldhouse

The City of Yellowknife (the City) is looking for feedback on what kind of flooring the community would like to see installed on one of the fields at the Fieldhouse. In 2022, Council allocated approximately $300,000 for this project, which is enough to upgrade one field. Replacing the other side of the field is a future project the City is anticipating, with no official date at this time.

The City of Yellowknife (the City) is encouraging Yellowknifers to buy local this holiday season. This year, the City is partnering with various holiday markets to offer customers a chance to win their share of $4,000 in prizes. #MadeinYK supports Yellowknife made products, such as art, jewelry, clothes, toys, souvenirs, and food.
