Following the latest recommendations from the Government of the Northwest Territories, Office of the Chief Public Health Officer (OCPHO), the City of Yellowknife (the City) is pleased to announce the reopening of City facilities and select programming. Effective Saturday, January 22, 2022, facilities will begin opening to the public. Opening hours may differ and additional restrictions will remain in place in line with OCPHO orders.

Indoor track will be open for use during regular operating hours from Saturday, January 22, 2022. Indoor fields are available for family/household rentals only (no mixing of households permitted pursuant to OCPHO).  


Ice times are available for family/household rentals only (no mixing of households permitted pursuant to OCPHO) from Saturday, January 22, 2022, during regular operating hours.


Select City programming will resume but high-risk activities continue to be suspended.

The Ruth Inch Memorial Pool and Yellowknife Community Arena remain closed at this time.


Masks or facial coverings are mandatory on Yellowknife Public Transit, and in all indoor City facilities as directed by the OCPHO. Screening, proof of vaccination, physical distancing and capacity restrictions remain in place. 

Drop-in visitors will still be responsible for completing a contact tracing form before or at the start of their visit.

Liquor Permission

If you wish to serve alcohol when renting a City facility, you must obtain permission from the City prior to applying for a liquor license.  Please complete and submit the Liquor Permission Agreement form to  You must also include a layout of your event (tables, staging, chairs, bar, etc.) with your submission.

Winter Hours effective following the Labour Day Weekend
until prior to the Victoria Day Weekend (September to May)
Monday to Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: Closed

Summer Hours effective following the Victoria Day Weekend
until prior to the Labour Day Weekend (May to September)
Monday to Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
