Access for All

The City of Yellowknife envisions that every citizen living in Yellowknife should have an equal opportunity to enjoy using our many facilities in Yellowknife. The purpose of the Access for All program is to provide free access to our drop-in recreational activities and Public Transit for low income citizens and/or families.

Eligible Yellowknifers should complete and submit the application form. 

 What does the Access for All Program offer?

 

A one year (annual) Transit Pass and a one year Family Flexi Pass membership.

This provides access to:

  • Yellowknife Transit and Yellowknife Accessible Transit Service (YATS)
  • All public and family activities at the:
    • Ruth Inch Memorial Pool
    • Multiplex
    • Fieldhouse
    • All drop-in programs (i.e. play together and drop-in sports)

Activities not included are:

  • City of Yellowknife Programs and Day Camps

Please note that all facility rules, regulations and guidelines will still apply to all users of this pass.

Am I eligible for Access for All?

To be eligible for Access for All you must be a resident of Yellowknife.  You will need to provide one of the following for every member of your household over the age of 18:

  • Income Assistance Financial Case Report from the GNWT Department of Education Culture and Employment
  • Current Canada Revenue Notice of Assessment (Line 15000). Access your Notice of Assessment Online.

Access for All is designed for individuals and families whose combined gross family income per household falls within or below the Northwest Territories Market Basket Measure Threshold by family size.

Where do I send my application?

Please submit your application by:

  • Dropping off the completed application in a sealed envelope marked "Confidential" to any of the following City Facilities: City Hall, Ruth Inch Memorial Pool or Yellowknife Fieldhouse
  • Email applications to AccessForAll@yellowknife.ca
  • Mail applications to Access for All, City of Yellowknife, Box 580, Yellowknife, NT X1A 2N4

What if I'm not approved for the Access for All program?

If your financial situation has changed you are welcome to reapply.  There is no waiting period required.  Please call us at (867) 920-5685 or email AccessForAll@yellowknife.ca to discuss your application.

Do I have to re-apply to the Access for All program?

Yes, as your financial situation may have changed within the year.  However, you can apply up to four weeks prior to the expiration date on your Access for All notification letter.

 What if I lose my Flexi Pass or Transit Pass?

A $5.00 replacement charge will be applied if you lose your Flexi Pass.  You can pick up a replacement Flexi Pass at City Hall, Ruth Inch Memorial Pool or the Fieldhouse.  A $5.00 replacement charge will be applied if you lose your Transit pass. Replacement Transit Passes can only be picked up at City Hall.
