The City of Yellowknife acknowledges that we are located in Chief Drygeese territory. From time immemorial, it has been the traditional land of the Yellowknives Dene First Nation, and more recently, the homeland of the North Slave Métis Alliance. We respect the histories, languages, and cultures of First Nations, Metis, Inuit, and all First Peoples of Canada, whose presence continues to enrich our vibrant community.

I Love This City celebrates our employees who make this city the best place to live, work, and play!

If you have a positive story to share about a City of Yellowknife employee and would like to be featured in this campaign, we would love to hear from you! Email us at communications@yellowknife.ca

I Love this City Corporate Services

Thank you, Yellowknife, for using our online services so that we can all continue to socially distance during these challenging times. Residents can still reach the City by emailing CustomerService@yellowknife.ca, visiting www.yellowknife.ca or calling 920-5600. Together, we'll get through this! Thank you,

- From the City of Yellowknife, Corporate Services Team

I Love this City Community Services

Thank you, Yellowknife, for using the Yellowknife Public Library's online resources so that we can all continue to socially distance during these challenging times. Check out www.yellowknife.ca/ypl for our latest Virtual StoryTime videos. Together, we'll get through this! Thank you,

-  From the City of Yellowknife, Community Services Team

I Love this City Public Safety Team

Thank you, Yellowknife, for staying home and socially distancing so that we can continue to provide essential emergency services to those in need. If you are experiencing milder symptoms such as fever, cough or flu-like, take the NWT Online COVID-19 Self-Assessment Tool or call: 867-767-9120. If your symptoms are sever (i.e. shortness of breath) call 9-1-1, (or Fire & Medical 873-2222). Thank You,

- From the City of Yellowknife, Public Safety Team

I Love this City Public Works

Thank you, Yellowknife, for staying home and socially distancing so that we can continue to deliver your water, keep your sewage popes clear, maintain roads and sidewalks and manage waste. Together, we'll get through this! Thank you,

- From the City of Yellowknife, Public Works and Engineering Team

I Love This City - Gerda Groothuizen, Deputy Fire Chief of Life Safety & Prevention

Gerda is a true and proud City of Yellowknife employee! We worked together at the Ruth Inch Memorial Pool 30 years ago. Today, in her role as Deputy Fire Chief, she inspects my company's properties to ensure they meet National Fire Code requirements, and provides me with the tools I need to keep our tenants safe. Gerda is always professional and very knowledgeable. She is a woman in a non-traditional role and I applaud her for that.

- Kathy Yurris, Property Manager, TC Group of Companies

I Love This City - SPCA

We couldn't do as much as we do, without the help from Municipal Enforcement Officers. We work together to answer concerns from the community and identify animals, so that we can find their owners before they have to come into the shelter. Officers go out of their way to reunite pets with their families. Thank you MED for helping keep our furry friends safe!

- The SPCA and Great Slave Animal Hospital Staff and Volunteers.

I Love This City - Dave Hurley

When in doubt, call Dave Hurley and issues are dealt with quickly and with great service. We want to express what an asset and valuable employee Dave is and how much we appreciate everything he does, not just for Old Town, but for all of Yellowknife. Thank you Dave for you unfaltering support.

- Old Town Ramble & Ride Festival Board of Directors

I Love This City - Sweepers

I bike the streets of Yellowknife almost every day, sometimes stopping to talk to the Road and Sidewalk crews to let them know what bike lanes need more sweeping. Sure enough, they always get the work done. Knowing our crews care about road safety and are responsive to tips makes Yellowknife a city I have confidence in. The crews' attention to detail makes everyone's ride safer. One of the many reasons why... I LOVE THIS CITY

- David Gilday, Yellowknifer/Cyclist

I Love This City - Jennifer Cooper

Jennifer (Finance Officer, City of Yellowknife) is the most amazing person to work with a the City of Yellowknife. SHe walks me through lottery applications with patience and understanding; she helps make sure I have all my statements and applications in order. She is so easy going and pleasant every time! Thanks Jennifer, you make my job so much easier.

- Kimberly Doyle, Executive Director, Yellowknife Seniors' Society

I Love This City - Sam Slack

Thanks to Sinead (Swim Coach, City of Yellowknife) at Ruth Inch Memorial Pool, Sam (Sam Slack, Awesome Swimmer! shown above) has fun in the water! She has this disarming manner about her that allows Sam to relax and enjoy playing in the pool, which will serve him well as he grows up in Yellowknife... I LOVE THIS CITY

- Sam's Dad

I Love City - Iman Kassam

I worked closely with Iman (Communications and Economic Development Officer, City of Yellowknife) to open up my new bakery. She has been so helpful and patient with me through the process after winning Win Your Space 2017. I'm so excited to open up Ja-pain... I couldn't have done this without her! I LOVE THIS CITY.
