Amongst City Hall’s decorative lights and under a starry night sky, the City of Yellowknife is excited to invite the community to our upcoming themed Friday Night Skate Series. Structure Fire at Dusseault Court

In the early morning of Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 1:01a.m., the Yellowknife Fire Division (YKFD) responded to a call regarding a structure fire at Dusseault Court.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered the fire originating in the crawl space at the front of the home. They were able to quickly contain the fire, which had spread into the interior but was confined to the front portion of the residence. There were no injuries reported, and the homeowner was able to evacuate the property safely.

Canada’s flag turns 60 tomorrow! Canada’s red and white maple leaf flag was raised for the first time on Parliament Hill on February 15, 1965. The national flag is a symbol of pride for Canadians and this year Canadians are encouraged to express their national pride and “show the flag”. Solid Waste Facility Resumes Regular Hours

The City of Yellowknife (the City) wishes to inform residents that the subsurface fire, which was identified in October 2024 in the Construction and Demolition (C&D) landfill cell at the Solid Waste Facility, has now been extinguished. The City will continue regular monitoring as per our usual protocols.

As of Thursday, February 13, the Solid Waste Facility will resume its regular hours of operation during the week and on weekends for residents and commercial contractors.
