Public Engagement on Wildfire Response

Following last summer's extraordinary wildfire season, the City of Yellowknife has contracted KPMG to complete an After-Action Assessment to identify best practices demonstrated by the City’s response to the 2023 wildfire season, as well as areas for improvement. The intent is to determine actions that will ensure better preparation for the future, as well as medium to long-term actions needed to strengthen and standardize the emergency response capabilities within the City’s mandate.

Vehicle Fire on Range Lake Road

At approximately 12:30 p.m. on March 5, 2024, the City of Yellowknife Fire Division (YKFD) responded to a service call regarding a vehicle fire on Range Lake Road. YKFD extinguished the fire and were on the scene until approximately 1:30 p.m. The Municipal Enforcement Division were on the scene to divert traffic. No injuries were reported.

Amid City Hall’s decorative lights and under a starry night sky, the City of Yellowknife is excited to invite the community to our upcoming disco themed skate night.
