National Indigenous Peoples Day Event with Miranda Currie

In honour of National Indigenous Peoples Day, the City of Yellowknife (the City) invites the community to join Miranda Currie in celebrating Indigenous language and culture through storytelling and music.

Miranda Currie will dazzle the public with a family-oriented performance on Monday, June 19, 2023 and Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at the Amphitheater in Somba K’e Civic Plaza, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

City's Construction Season is Underway

The City of Yellowknife (the City) would like to inform residents of the planned construction projects taking place within the city this summer.

City Wide Fire Ban Lifted May 26, 2023

Effective immediately, the mandatory ban on open air fires that was put in place on Friday, May 19, 2023 has been lifted for the City of Yellowknife. The fire ban may be reinstated at any time if conditions necessitate a ban.

A City of Yellowknife fire ban will be in effect starting Friday May 19, 2023 at 12:00 pm (noon) on open air burning fire pits and will remain in effect until further notice.

Due to current conditions the area is experiencing, the Yellowknife Fire Division is implementing a fire ban to reduce the risk of wildland fires within  city limits.

The City of Yellowknife (the City) is ready to welcome residents of Hay River and Kátł’odeeche First Nation who were ordered to evacuate their communities as a result of wildfires.
