Committees of Council

Committees of Council are established to study issues and make recommendations to City Council. They are broken down into two categories: standing committees and ad hoc committees. City Council has also established technical and administrative committees to assist in various matters affecting the community. These committees do not require members of Council to be members of the committees, though they report to Council as necessary.

Council Procedure By-law

The rules of procedure for Council (Council Procedure By-law No. 4975) shall apply to all standing committees.

Committee Vacancies

The following positions are currently available:

Audit Committee

The City of Yellowknife is currently seeking an accountant to fill a vacancy on its Audit Committee. The Audit Committee makes recommendations to City Council in all matters pertaining to the financial reporting process. The Audit Committee meets on a quarterly basis and members will be paid an honorarium. Individuals should apply online or submit a Letter of Application, explaining their interest in serving on the Audit Committee, to the City Clerk, City of Yellowknife, City Hall, Yellowknife, NT, fax 920-5649; or email cityclerk@yellowknife.ca.
