On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, the City of Yellowknife will be hosting a Canada Day event at Somba K'e Civic Plaza.

Event Day Highlight
- National Broadcast – Showcasing Northern Talent in affiliation with Heritage Canada
The City of Yellowknife is proud to announce its selection by Heritage Canada as one of only three Canadian cities—outside of the national capital—chosen to participate in the 2025 National Canada Day Evening Broadcast. The broadcast will air on CBC and Radio-Canada beginning at 6:00 p.m. MST.
As part of this prestigious event, Yellowknife will present a live performance featuring two acclaimed Northern artists: Brenda Montana and Crook The Kid (Dylan Jones), bringing national attention to the talent emerging from the North.
- Multicultural Community Partnership – Global Village & Main Stage Entertainment
In collaboration with the Multicultural Community of Yellowknife (MCY), the City is excited to host the Global Village at Somba K’e Civic Plaza. This vibrant space will feature a variety of cultural food booths offering complimentary samples from regions including Africa, Taiwan, India, China, Pakistan, Greece, and more—celebrating the diversity that enriches our community.
Live entertainment will also take place on the main stage, showcasing performances that reflect Yellowknife’s multicultural spirit.
- Artisan Market and Food Vendors
Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy a range of food options available for purchase from local vendors. An artisan market will also be open, featuring handmade crafts and goods created by local makers—offering a great opportunity to support small businesses and experience the creativity of Yellowknife’s artisan community.
- Family-Friendly Programming
Canada Day celebrations will include fun, family-focused activities such as bouncy castles, face painting, and lawn games, ensuring there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
