The City of Yellowknife is pleased to announce the return of Pumpkin Lane! Come take a stroll along the McMahon Frame Lake Trail (near the JumpStart Accessible Playground) to see the pumpkin path lit up and marvel at the creative carvings done by community members.

Public Boat Launch Removal

The City of Yellowknife wishes to advise residents that on Monday, October 16, 2023, the public boat launch in Old Town will be removed. The floating curtain under the McMeekan Causeway Bridge to Latham Island will be installed to promote ice formation, providing a safe passage for both pedestrians and snow machines.

Fire Prevention Week

From October 8-14, 2023, the Yellowknife Fire Division is teaming up with the National Fire Protection Association to promote Fire Prevention Week. Throughout the week, safety tips will be shared related to this year’s theme, “Cooking safety starts with YOU. Pay attention to fire prevention.”

Fire ban lifted

Effective immediately, the mandatory ban on open-air fires that has been in place since Wednesday, July 12, 2023, has been lifted for the City of Yellowknife. Burning is permitted in approved fire pits only. Burning in an unapproved pit will result in a fine.
