The City of Yellowknife provides funding to non-profit organizations for the purpose of assisting in the organization of events, projects and programming. Please review the Grant Funding Policy for complete details.
Grant Funding Program
Purpose: to fund and partner with community non-profit organizations to deliver programs, projects or events that align with the City of Yellowknife objectives, have a clear community impact and respond to community needs. Eligible organizations may only apply under one (1) funding stream: Community Service Grant, Multi-Year Grant, Sponsorship Grant or Heritage Committee Grant. Funding levels are reviewed and set annually by Council.
Community Service Grant
It is the policy of the City of Yellowknife to provide one (1) year Community Service Grant funding to non-profit organizations based in Yellowknife for start-up or enhancement of programs or projects. The maximum amount to be awarded is 30% of the submitted budget to a maximum of 10,000.00. Funding must be used within the grant year. Community Service Grant Application.
Multi-Year Grant
It is the policy of the City of Yellowknife to provide three (3) year Multi-Year Grant funding to established non-profit organizations based in Yellowknife for operational requirements, programs and/or projects. The maximum amount to be awarded is 30% of the submitted budget to a maximum of $50,000.00. Multi-Year Grant Application.
Sponsorship Grant
It is the policy of the City of Yellowknife to provide one (1) year Sponsorship Grant funding to established non-profit organizations based in Yellowknife to sponsor or host an event. The maximum amount to be awarded is 30% of the submitted budget to a maximum of $20,000.00. Funding must be used within the grant year. Sponsorship Grant Application.
Heritage Committee Grant
It is the policy of the City of Yellowknife to provide limited funding to groups who purpose to reflect and celebrate Yellowknife’s rich heritage. The Heritage Committee may grant up to $5,000 for a proposal, whereas any request exceeding $5,000 must receive Council approval. Grant Funding Final Report
Final reports for grant funding are due December 15 of the year the grant was awarded, or within 60 (sixty) days of the event, program or project's end. The remaining 25% of funds for Community Service Grants or Sponsorship Grants are released after the final report is received and reviewed. Grant Funding Final Report.
