Fire on Cameron Road

At approximately 10:45 p.m. on April 15, 2024, the City of Yellowknife Fire Division (YKFD) responded to a call on Cameron Road for a report of a fire.

Upon arrival, crews saw flames and smoke outside coming from the yard area, as a result of stored materials catching fire. YKFD extinguished the fire and was on the scene until approximately 1:45 a.m. The Municipal Enforcement Division diverted traffic on the scene.

51 Avenue Toboggan Hill Closure

The City of Yellowknife wishes to advise residents that effective Friday, April 10, 2024, the recreational toboggan hill at 51 Avenue between 55 and 54 Streets will be closed for the season.

Please use caution and obey signage while heavy machinery removes the snow from 51 Avenue. Residents can expect the street to be back open to vehicular traffic by 4:00 p.m. For further information, please contact the City at 920-5600.

New Yellowknife Transit Fleet Arrives

The City of Yellowknife, together with Transdev, are pleased to announce the launch of the new Yellowknife Transit Fleet, comprising of eight accessible buses. Residents are invited to provide online feedback for the After Action Assessment of the City of Yellowknife’s 2023 Wildfire response through a survey from March 25 to April 12, 2024, on the City’s PlaceSpeak page.
