2024 Grant Applications are open

The City of Yellowknife (the City) is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the 2024 Community Grant Funding Program as well as the Heritage Committee Grant Funding Program. Note that the application deadline for both programs is Monday, January 15, 2024, at 5:00 p.m.

Through the Community Grant, the City provides funding to non-profit, community organizations that assist in the organization of events, projects or programs that align with Council’s Strategic Directions....

Remembrance Day Road Closures

The City of Yellowknife would like to advise residents that on Saturday, November 11, 2023 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., several streets in the downtown core will be closed for the Annual Remembrance Day Parade. During this time, there will be no parking along the parade route. Please see the map below for the details related to the road closures.

Signage will be placed 24 hours in advance to inform residents that vehicles must be moved before the road closures to avoid being towed.

Santa Claus Parade 2023

The City of Yellowknife is excited to invite all residents to take part in the 2023 Santa Claus Parade on Saturday, November 25, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Watch the downtown core come alive as community groups and festive floats take to the streets to spread holiday cheer!

This year’s theme, “Yellowknife Strong”, highlights the perseverance of our community and the dedication of first responders, essential staff, and volunteers during this past wildfire season.

City Landlines Down

The City of Yellowknife (the City) would like to advise residents that City phones are not working as a result of a network issue that is impacting local and long distance service. As such, currently residents will not be able to access 9-1-1 or reach the City by phone. As an alternative to calling 9-1-1, residents are asked to report an emergency in-person at City Hall, the Fire Hall, or the RCMP office. For City related inquiries, please contact the City by email.
