On Monday, March 27, Yellowknife City Councildeclareda half-day civic holiday for Friday, March 31, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. to 5 p.m. in recognition of the Yellowknives Dene First Nation’s Spring Carnival.
In observance of the half-day civic holiday, City facilities will operate as follows:
- City Hall: 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- Solid Waste Facility: Closed
- Fieldhouse: Regular hours
- Multiplex: Regular hours
- Ruth Inch Memorial Pool: Regular hours
- Yellowknife Public Library: Regular hours

SOLID WASTE FACILITY TO REOPEN NEXT WEEK

The City of Yellowknife (the City) would like to advise residents the Solid Waste Facility (SWF) will reopen to the public on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, for its regular hours of 11 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. The facility will resume all of its regular services at that time, including Honey Bucket and Dog Poop disposal.
Forcontractors, the SWF will reopen on Monday, March 27, 2023, for regular hours.

City staff returned to work on March 20, 2023, and started preparing for the opening of facilities and resumption of programs. The City of Yellowknife (the City) would like to update residents on the phased resumption of City services and programs.

Vehicle Fire - Centre Square Mall Parkade

At approximately 7:35 p.m. on March 14, 2023, the City of Yellowknife Fire Division (YKFD) responded to a service call regarding a vehicle fire on the second floor of the Centre Square Mall parkade. YKFD was able to completely extinguish the vehicle fire. RCMP and the Municipal Enforcement Division were on scene to help with traffic control.
No injuries or other property damage have been reported. This incident is being investigated by the RCMP and Office of the Fire Marshal.
