The City of Yellowknife is hosting a lottery for food truck vendors interested in having a designated parking spot downtown during the upcoming food truck season. After consulting with food vendors that operated in the city’s downtown, a lottery system was implemented in 2017. At approximately 3:00 a.m on April 23, 2018 the City of Yellowknife Fire Division was dispatched to a vehicle fire in the parking lot of Beck Court apartments. The Fire Division responded with a duty crew of five personnel on Engine 9 and Medic 6.  On arrival to the scene, the crew noted a newer model red SUV was fully involved and a newer model Chevrolet half-ton truck parked on the side of the red SUV had smoke coming out of the covered box.  Ignited gas was leaking...

The City of Yellowknife is excited to announce the opening of a new climbing wall located in the Fieldhouse (45 Kam Lake Rd.). The climbing wall is open to the public beginning Saturday, April 14 at 1 p.m. Representatives from the Yellowknife Climbing Club will join the Mayor for a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, April 18 at 6 p.m. Members from the Climbing Club will be on-site providing demonstrations.
