As the year comes to a close and communities pause to reflect, the City of Yellowknife is inviting Indigenous governments, organizations, and community members to share their insights on the City’s ongoing Reconciliation efforts. This year marks ten years since the release of Canada’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission Final Report—a milestone that reminds us Reconciliation is a continuous journey requiring listening, partnership, and shared guidance.
The City has taken intentional steps to strengthen relationships with Indigenous partners, embed culture and language, support Indigenous-led initiatives, and foster respectful community engagement. The city is trying, learning and wanting to improve. To ensure the next steps are guided by the voices and priorities of those most affected, the City is asking for input through a short survey on the Walking Forward Together: Reconciliation Roadmap. The survey takes approximately 15 minutes, and the deadline is January 8, 2026.
Your feedback will directly inform the City’s planning and upcoming in-person engagement sessions in January 2026. We also encourage you to share the survey with Elders, knowledge keepers, youth, and community members, as broad participation is essential for a plan that reflects lived experience and collective priorities.
As we approach the holiday season, the City thanks you for sharing your knowledge, experience, and guidance. Your reflections are deeply valued as we continue walking forward together in Reconciliation.
