Woodchip Fire Extinguished

On Wednesday July 24, 2024 at 12:50 p.m., the Yellowknife Fire Division responded to a fire at the Con Mine site. Upon arrival, crews found a 20 square foot pile of chipped wood on fire.

Firefighters deployed their hose lines and started fighting the fire. An excavator arrived and began pulling the woodchip pile apart, giving firefighters access to the inside of the pile. Firefighters verified the fire was fully extinguished using a thermal imaging camera.

Transit for Ramble & Ride

In celebration of the Old Town Ramble & Ride festival, the City of Yellowknife is offering free transit service for all routes and YATS on Saturday, August 3, 2024. As per the regular transit schedule, there will be no public transit on Sunday, August 4, 2024.

McDonald Drive will be closed to traffic to facilitate the festival on Saturday, August 3 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on Sunday, August 4 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. On Saturday, Bus Route C will follow a detour route, as two bus...
