Fire Division
The Yellowknife Fire Division (YKFD) has an integrated fire service that also provides emergency medical services (EMS), patient transport, and ambulance services, in addition to traditional fire department services such as fire suppression, dangerous goods response and other types of response needed to protect property, people and the environment.
The Fire Division is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, for immediate response. If you have an emergency, call 911.
Note: Blasting is regulated under the NWT Explosives Act, enforced by the WSCC. Prior to commencing a blast, blasting companies are required to notify the appropriate authorities, including the City's Fire Division, Municipal Enforcement Division, and Department of Public Works and Engineering.
