The City of Yellowknife offers Commissioner of Oaths and Notary Public Services.
A commissioner of oaths can administer oaths and take and receive affidavits, statutory declarations and affirmations for use in court or other legal proceedings.
A notary public performs all the duties of a commissioner for oaths by administering oaths, and taking and receiving affidavits, statutory declarations, and affirmations. In addition, a notary public can also certify true copies of documents, and can administer oaths and affirmations for use outside of the Northwest Territories.
There is a fee for this service, which is $25.00 plus GST for up to five signatures, and an additional $10.00 for five to ten signatures.

The documents should be unsigned.
We require government photo ID, along with original documents that need to be certified or affirmed. An appearance in person is required.
These services are normally provided by Customer Service.
Documents to be filed in court should be commissioned at an NWT Court Registry.
