There are three regular transit routes in the Yellowknife Transit System.
Route 1 - YK Connector
The Route 1 YK Connector route is the transit system’s spine, connecting the highest ridership destinations along 50th Avenue. It offers service every 30 minutes at peak commute times. The YK Connector route also serves the growing neighbourhood of Kam Lake, twice daily on weekdays.
Neighbourhood routes
Neighbourhood routes offer 30-to-60-minute service throughout the day, with lower ridership routes reducing to 60-minute frequencies at lower demand times. There are currently two neighbourhood routes.
Route 2 - Borden/Forrest and Niven
Route 2 Borden/Forrest offers local service to the Borden Drive and Forrest Drive areas, with connections to the YK Connector route to access key destinations. It offers service that may be less direct but goes closer to home for customers who are less able to walk to a stop.
Route 3 - Niven
Route 3 Niven offers local service to the Niven Drive area, with connection to the YK Connector route to access key destinations. It offers service that may be less direct but goes closer to home for customers who are less able to walk to a stop.
The Routes are shown on the Transit Rider’s Guide, CityExplorer, or via directions with Google Maps. Live bus tracking is provided on the PassioGO! app.
Printed Schedules are available on transit buses, at City Hall and at the Visitor’s Centre.
Yellowknife Transit encourages passengers to arrive at transit stops 5 minutes ahead of the scheduled stop time.
Buses run from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 7:45 p.m., Monday to Saturday, all year.
Note: there is no transit service on Sundays or Statutory Holidays.
