The City of Yellowknife advises residents that the Aquatic Centre will be temporarily closed from April 5, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. to May 2, 2026, at 6:00 a.m. to complete a comprehensive warranty inspection and related repairs.
As the facility approaches its first anniversary since opening on May 5, 2025, this scheduled inspection is a standard and important step for new buildings. It allows contractors and specialists to thoroughly review mechanical, structural, and operational systems, address identified items, and ensure all components continue to operate safely and reliably for residents.
This proactive work helps protect the City’s investment in infrastructure and supports the long-term reliability and safety of the Aquatic Centre for residents.
During the closure:
- Swim lessons scheduled within this period will be refunded to participants’ PerfectMind accounts
- Residents’ Flexi Passes will be extended to reflect the duration of the closure upon reopening
The City understands the Aquatic Centre is an important part of many residents’ routines and appreciates the community’s patience as this scheduled warranty work is completed. The facility is expected to reopen on or before 6:00 a.m. on May 2, 2026, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back.
