The City of Yellowknife would like to make residents aware of how the transition to 10-digit dialing will affect their experience with City services.

As of April 1, 2023, residents in Yellowknife have to dial 10-digits when calling another number in the City. Residents who have not transitioned to using 9-1-1 as their primary emergency number and continue to dial 873-2222 for access to City emergency services will be impacted.

As of April 1, a caller dialing a number using only seven digits will be interrupted by a recording to remind callers to dial the full 10-digit number, but the call will still be connected.  In the event of an emergency, residents are encouraged to dial 911.
