In honour of National Indigenous Peoples Day, the City of Yellowknife (the City) invites the community to join Miranda Currie in celebrating Indigenous language and culture through storytelling and music.

Miranda Currie will dazzle the public with a family-oriented performance on Monday, June 19, 2023 and Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at the Amphitheater in Somba K’e Civic Plaza, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

A dedicated land-based educator and author of four children’s books, Miranda Currie is a northern Indigenous artist, living and working in Somba K’e (Yellowknife). Currie released her first children’s album Bouncing in the Boreal, followed by Tickling the Taiga in May 2022.

The City will not host an event on June 21, 2023. Instead, residents are encouraged to attend other events happening in the community to celebrate this day!
