The City of Yellowknife is inviting residents to share their perspectives on the two new park development projects planned for 2026: a replacement playground at Latham Island and a new outdoor recreational space between Hagel Drive and LeMay Drive.

“Yellowknifers have consistently told us that public spaces play a vital role in community life,” says Grant White, Director of Community Services. “These projects provide an opportunity to design spaces that are inclusive, safe, and welcoming for all ages and abilities. Community input is essential to ensuring these spaces reflect the needs, priorities, and values of the people who use them.”

Both projects are currently in the public consultation stage. While the City will make the final decisions, resident feedback will meaningfully inform the features, layout, and accessibility of each space.

Residents are encouraged to complete the short online surveys for each location:

  • Hagel Outdoor Recreational SpaceTell us what type of space you would like to see, whether that includes a playground, sports courts, outdoor fitness equipment, picnic areas, or other amenities.

Each survey takes approximately five to seven minutes to complete and is open to all residents, families, and community members. Responses must be submitted by Friday, March 13, 2026, to be considered as part of the planning process.

Your valuable feedback helps the City plan spaces that Yellowknifers love to use, enjoy, and take pride in.
