On Thursday, October 23, at 10:00 a.m., the City of Yellowknife (the City) will be hosting a ballot draw for the sale of residential lots in the Gitzel, Grace Lake South, and Niven Lake subdivisions. The draw will take place in the Council Chamber at City Hall.

The City holds ballot draws to ensure potential purchasers have a fair chance at obtaining developable residential lots. The sale of these lots will provide opportunities for residential development.

The lots on Gitzel and Matonabee Street are located at Lots 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12, Block 119 Plan 4880. These lots are zoned RI-1 – Residential Intensification. The lots in Grace Lake are located at Lot 16 and 26, Block 569 Plan 4690 (118 and 121 Braden Boulevard). These lots are zoned RE – Residential Estate. The lot available in Niven Lake is Lot 77, Block 308 Plan 4204 (2 Findlay Point). This lot is zoned R1 – Low Density Residential. Detailed information about Residential Zoning can be found in the Zoning By-Law 5045.

A $1,000 refundable deposit is required to enter the ballot draw. Ballot draw application forms and procedures are available online and at the Customer Service Desk at City Hall. Application forms along with the deposit must be dropped off at City Hall by Monday, October 20, 2025, at 4:00 p.m.
