The streets of downtown Yellowknife will light up with holiday cheer as the Santa Claus Parade returns on Saturday, November 29, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Inspired by the city we call home, this year’s “Winter Wonderland” theme showcases the creativity, energy, and community pride of Yellowknife residents.
“Yellowknife’s winters are a defining part of our city — beautiful, challenging, and full of character. The Santa Claus Parade celebrates the spirit of our community, where creativity, generosity, and warmth come together to transform downtown into a place of joy and connection. Even in the coldest months, the imagination, energy, and sense of togetherness of our residents make this city truly special and uniquely Northern,” says City Mayor Ben Hendriksen.
Join the celebration by registering a float or simply come downtown to enjoy the festivities with family and friends. Registration is now open and will close on November 28, 2025. In addition to the Roland Gosselin Ho Ho Ho Award, which recognizes a non-profit organization that best embodies the Christmas spirit, prizes will be awarded for the top three floats.
The parade route begins at City Hall (53 Street), travels north along Franklin Avenue, and turns east on 49 Street. Spectators can enjoy colourful floats, festive decorations, and the spirit of the community along the way. Warming buses will be stationed at key intersections to keep everyone comfortable.
