Statement From the City of Yellowknife: Incident at Yellowknife Public Library

The City of Yellowknife is aware of an incident that occurred on November 18, 2025, at the Yellowknife Public Library involving our contracted security provider and a member of the public. We understand that a partial video recording of this incident is circulating on social media.

The City takes all such incidents seriously. Our contracted security firm has initiated an internal review of this incident.

The safety and well-being of library staff, security personnel, and all Yellowknifers is our top priority.

We are aware that this incident has generated discussion on social media, and ask all residents to be respectful in online discussions. We will provide further information once the review has been completed.
