On Friday, June 27, at approximately 1:15 p.m., the City of Yellowknife Fire Division (YKFD) responded to a reported structure fire at 4 Lessard Drive.
Upon arrival, responding crews observed flames and smoke emanating from the back of the building. A total of 17 firefighters were deployed to the scene, and the fire was brought under control and fully extinguished. Crews remained on site until approximately 4:00 p.m. to ensure the scene was safe and secure.
The fire was successfully contained to the back portion of the structure, and no injuries were reported. The Municipal Enforcement Division (MED) provided support by managing traffic in the area during the incident. Following an investigation, the cause of the fire was determined to be the improper use of a heating device.
