The City reminds all tourist accommodation providers that the next tourist accommodation tax payment period will run from October 1 to October 31, 2025. This applies to all stays of less than 30 consecutive days that occurred between July 1 and September 30, 2025.

All tourist accommodation providers, including short-term rental hosts who use platforms like Airbnb, Vrbo, or manage their own bookings, are required to collect and remit the 4% levy on applicable bookings.

Important Information for Compliance:

  • All Tourist Accommodation Providers must hold a valid Business License with the City of Yellowknife.

  • All Short-Term Rental (STR) operators must hold a valid Short-Term Rental Accommodation Business License in accordance with City By-law No. 5099.

  • Operators who fail to obtain a license or to report the total revenue subject to the Tourist Accommodation Tax will be subject to penalties and fines.
