CITY FACILITIES TO REQUIRE PROOF OF COVID-19 VACCINATION

Posted on Thursday November 25, 2021

Effective Monday, November, 29, 2021 pursuant to the City of Yellowknife Proof of Vaccine Policy all City of Yellowknife (the City) Facilities will require proof of COVID-19 vaccination upon entry.

All visitors are required to complete a Contact Tracing Form prior to entering any City Facility. Anyone 12 years of age and older must be able to provide their proof of vaccination status (or an official vaccine exemption letter). Individuals 19 years of age and older must also be able to provide proof of identification. This policy will be in place at the following facilities as of November 29, 2021:

  • City Hall
  • Field House
  • Ruth Inch Memorial Pool
  • Yellowknife Public Library

The Multiplex will continue to operate under the limits established in the OCPHO Gatherings Order and proof of vaccination will not be required until screeners are in place. The City will advise the public when proof of vaccination will be required at the Multiplex.

Participants of User Groups that have an approved ‘Application to Vary’ from Public Health Order Requirements entering a City facility and whose vaccination status has been verified by the User Group will not be required to provide proof of vaccination upon entry.

“Capacity restrictions by the OCPHO limited access to City Facilities by residents and meant that many people were unable to enjoy indoor activities when capacity limits were reached. By implementing a Proof of Vaccination Policy, the City is able to provide a safe environment for an increased number of people. The City of Yellowknife would like to thank residents for their patience while we navigate the ever-changing realities of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Sheila Bassi-Kellett, City Manager
