The City of Yellowknife (the City) is implementing additional changes at City facilities and to City services, as public exposure risk updates from the Government of the Northwest Territories, Office of the Chief Public Health Officer (OCPHO) continue to affect a number of City staff who must now isolate.

  • The Ruth Inch Memorial Pool is now closed to the public;
  • The Solid Waste Facility is operating at a reduced schedule, open to the public from Tuesday to Saturday, 11:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. for Public Drop-Off only. Salvaging is temporarily unavailable. Where possible, residents are asked to pay with Debit or Credit, although cash is accepted. The City reminds residents to respect all public health orders and guidelines issued by the OCPHO, and all signs and procedures in place at the facility. Residents must physically distance and wear a mask when unable to do so;
  • The Yellowknife Accessible Transit service is operating at a reduced schedule and will be available for registered users Monday to Friday, from 6:40 a.m. to 7:10 p.m. with no service on Saturday; and,
  • City Hall and the Fieldhouse remain closed to the public.

Other facilities and services are operating with reduced schedules and capacities, are open only to those 18 years of age and older, and masks or facial coverings are mandatory. Detailed, facility-specific information and schedules are available online.

With a range of containment efforts underway, as directed by the OCPHO, the safety of Yellowknifers is the City’s top priority and we will continue to take precautions to limit the outbreak. All essential services will continue and the City remains hopeful that we will be able to reopen facilities and resume impacted programs and services soon.
