Under the NWT Waters Act, the City of Yellowknife requires a licence from the Mackenzie Valley Land and Water Board (MVLWB) to draw water from local water bodies and to deposit waste. The City’s current Water Licence will expire in May 2022. Before submitting the licence renewal application, the City encourages residents and interested stakeholders to learn about what is being proposed and why, to ask questions, and to provide feedback.

The City of Yellowknife invites residents to participate in Yellowknife’s Great Sidewalk Chalk Mural.
From now until August 31, 2020, Yellowknifers are encouraged to draw on the sidewalk along Veterans Memorial Drive (49 Avenue), at City Hall and Somba K’e Civic Plaza, using chalk.
