On September 9, 2019 Yellowknife City Council adopted changes to Building By-Law No. 4469 . These changes relate to local construction and increase the energy efficiency requirements for residential buildings (Part 3 and Part 9).  The energy efficiency requirements are now approximately 25% higher than laid out in the 2015 National Building Code (NBC).  Commercial buildings (Part 3) are now required to meet the 2017 National Energy Code of Canada for Buildings (NECB)...

The City of Yellowknife has partnered with the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation to plant trees that will serve as a windbreak for the McNiven Tennis Courts and beautify the area. A TD Tree Day, an urban greening program, is taking place on September 15, 2019 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the McNiven Tennis Courts.
