 COVID-19:

Following the latest recommendations from the Government of the Northwest Territories, Office of the Chief Public Health Officer (OCPHO), the City of Yellowknife (the City) is pleased to announce the reopening of City facilities and select programming. Effective Saturday, January 22, 2022, facilities will begin opening to the public. Opening hours may differ and additional restrictions will remain in place in line with OCPHO orders.

Fieldhouse

Indoor track will be open for use during regular operating hours from Saturday, January 22, 2022. Indoor fields are available for family/household rentals only (no mixing of households permitted pursuant to OCPHO).  

Multiplex

Ice times are available for family/household rentals only (no mixing of households permitted pursuant to OCPHO) from Saturday, January 22, 2022, during regular operating hours.

Programs

Select City programming will resume but high-risk activities continue to be suspended.

The Ruth Inch Memorial Pool and Yellowknife Community Arena remain closed at this time.

 

Masks or facial coverings are mandatory on Yellowknife Public Transit, and in all indoor City facilities as directed by the OCPHO. Screening, proof of vaccination, physical distancing and capacity restrictions remain in place.

Interested in running a Drop-in Program?

The City of Yellowknife offers a variety of drop-in programming such as Soccer, Ultimate, and Pickleball. We are currently seeking residents who share an interest or skill that would be interested in running sessions as available. Commitment can be as little as 90 minutes a week!

**A Playgroup consists of one adult and up to a maximum of 6 children. The Flexi Pass may be used for Drop-in Sports and Christmas Drop-in Sports, as well as the following: indoor playground, walking/running track (Fieldhouse); Public skate, Parent & Tot skate, Adult skate, and Adult shinny (Multiplex); Public skate (Yellowknife Community Arena); Noon swim & splash, Public swim, Family swim, Adult swim, Lane swim, Aqua Jog (Ruth Inch Memorial Pool). Fees include G.S.T. Available for purchase at Ruth Inch Memorial Pool, Multiplex, and the Fieldhouse .

What to Expect

Registration and check-in

Upon arrival at the facility, please check-in with the front desk for payment. All facility users must fill out a COVID Contact Tracing form prior to entering the building. 

You will be required to follow certain protocols based on the facility you are using:

For Tennis, Basketball, Pickleball, and Ultimate

After checking in, go to your assigned player bench to change footwear and play.  After activity you have 10 minutes to leave the facility.

Please bring your own equipment, only Pickleball paddles are available for rent.

For Shiny

After checking in, go to your assigned dressing room no more than 15 minutes prior. After activity you have 15 minutes to leave the facility.

For Public Skates

After checking in, there will be chairs placed 2m apart for you to change into appropriate footwear.  There are no dressing rooms available.

For Public Swims

Regular pool operating hours will continue at this time with staff monitoring the water every hour, and sanitizing all touchpoints and surfaces several times a day. We ask residents who become ill to stay home and look after themselves and encourage those you know are sick to do the same. The main pool and hot tub facilities will be available for use.
