As the community counts down to the New Year, the City of Yellowknife warmly invites residents and visitors to come together and welcome 2026 at the annual New Year’s Eve fireworks display. The celebration will begin at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, lighting up the winter sky with a vibrant display. Residents are encouraged to gather at Somba K’e Civic Plaza to enjoy the show, with fireworks launched from Frame Lake.
Whilst you plan your evening to enjoy the fireworks display, please take note of the following safety reminders to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience:
- If viewing the fireworks near Frame Lake, please avoid the launch area, outlined in red on the map below. Areas highlighted in green indicate the safest locations from which to view the display.

- The public is asked to stay clear of the launch area until noon on Monday, January 1, 2026, to allow City crews to complete a daylight safety inspection.

The City of Yellowknife looks forward to celebrating the arrival of 2026 with the community. Bundle up and enjoy the show.
