The Yellowknife Fire Division, in conjunction with FireSmart Canada and FireSmart NWT, is implementing a FireSmarting program to assist residences to reduce the risk of fire spread to their homes. FireSmart Canada and FireSmart NWT have certified Yellowknife Fire Division's staff to complete Home and Property Assessments for the residences of Yellowknife and N’Dilo. Once your Home and Property Assessment is completed, you will be given a report with recommendations. Actioning these recommendations does not remove the fire risk to your home and property, however the suggested actions will help to reduce risk.

Note that these Home and Property Assessments are being conducted for residents of Yellowknife and N’Dilo only. Residents with homes outside of the City of Yellowknife can contact Environment and Climate Change (ECC) at firesmart_intellifeu@gov.nt.ca for information on how to obtain a home assessment.
